DECISION OF THE BOARD

  1. Annabelle Wyant appears before the Board for consideration of parole.
  2. Since her last Parole Board hearing she has been transferred to Arohata Women’s Prison and was accepted into a three month Drug Treatment Programme (DTP).  She has just completed that programme successfully.  The recommendation from the programme is that she should engage with the aftercare worker.
  3. Ms Wyant has maintained her security classification of minimum.  She has not been subject to any incident or misconduct reports and remains IDU free.  She is described as positive and helpful and has engaged well in planned activities within the prison.  There is an application in for her to move through to Self Care at Arohata and the expectation is that she will work outside the wire for three months before she will be able to progress through to Release to Work.  She will graduate the DTP on 5 March 2018.
  4. The psychological report requested for this Board has been delayed till April.
  5. In our view, the Board needs the updated psychological report for the next Board hearing.  The Board is also of the view that Ms Wyant should now move through to the reintegrative part of her sentence, as has been identified in the parole assessment report which includes Self Care, work outside the wire and Release to Work.
  6. Parole is therefore declined today.
  7. Ms Wyant will be seen again in six months’ time in August 2018 and no later than 31 August 2018.
